Review of Holmes and the Stolen Stones

Holmes and the Stolen Stones is a slot game full of mystery and magic created by Yggdrasil Gaming. This is a fantastic game to play considering there are five progressive jackpots involved. As you may already be able to guess, the game is based on the fictional private detective Sherlock Holmes, a famous character of British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. We’ve been able to read about this cocaine-addicted gentleman’s obstacles and adventures since 1887 and he became even more familiar to us along the movies of Guy Ritchie.

And now we have stumbled upon this good-sir on Yggdrasil Gaming’s 5-reel and 20-payline video slot! Just as the novel dictates, Mr Holmes has the mission to find the stolen gems. This is no easy job, neither with the help of his friend Watson, because the stones are broken down into shards and sprinkled in several boxes which contain bombs as well. With its high RTP of 96,8% (very good number for a progressive jackpot game!) and beautiful graphics we can say this is a promising slot to any player. Due to the fact that during one game session you can get several bonus features and juicy wins you soon notice that you are easily hooked by this fascinating game!

How to Play

The name is quite self-explanatory when it comes to the purpose of this game – it’s all about trying to find those diamonds. You should try to hit five gems of the same colour on the reels, and you’ll be taken to Free Spins mode which we will talk more about below. Another way to get in on the Free Spins is by getting three of the Free Spins symbols.

If you spin three or more Bonus symbols (a rusty keyhole), you are taken to the Pick-and-Click Bonus game with some truly great rewards. This is a typical 5-reel slot, but to our surprise it doesn’t include a wild symbol at all. Instead, there are two different keyhole symbols for free spins and a bonus game. These two features together with the progressive jackpot provide you with lots of chances to make some very wholesome profits on this slot.

Holmes and the Stolen Stones Symbols

As on any video slot you can see both high value and lower values symbols on your screen. Latter ones are the typical card icons, and the higher value symbols include Mr Holmes himself, of course, plus Dr Watson, a magnifying glass and a book. As mentioned earlier, there is no Wild symbol in this game, but there is a rusty “Bonus” symbol and a golden “Free Spins” symbol. All of the symbols are done so well in this slot game, tremendous graphics and you can see that Yggdrasil really based the symbols on the original Holmes himself.

5 Progressive Jackpots

There are five progressive jackpots available on the Holmes and the Stolen Stones slot game, and you can reach them through the game’s Free Spins feature. Even though these jackpots are not as huge as on some other jackpot games such as Mega Fortune or Mega Moolah, they are still the main attraction of the slot. The jackpots have seed values of 40/200/600/1,500/10,000, so you won’t make millions here, but you’ll probably have more fun since jackpots can be won a lot more often than your usual 1 big jackpot game.

Bonus Game

You’ll reach the bonus game when you land on three or more of the Bonus symbols which represent a rusty keyhole. You’ll find yourself in a warehouse with several boxes. This is a Pick-and-Click game, and don’t we all love these types of features! In the boxes you can find cash prizes, shards of diamonds or a smoke bomb. If you happen to receive cash, then it’s all yours, but the diamonds will end up on the meter which can be seen above the game.

You can pick boxes until you find a bomb, and the bonus game is over. Now about the diamonds, there are five different colours of shards and you should try to get five pieces of each of them. When you get five shards of a matching colour, you automatically earn 10 free spins, and there you have your chance to win one of those 3 progressive jackpots. Not forgetting to mention that with four of the Bonus symbols, you can earn 1,000 coins and five Bonus symbols get you massive 10,000 coins.

Free Spins

Free spins are your key to the jackpot. 10 Free Spins can be triggered in two different ways:

  1. Hitting three or more Free Spin symbols on the reels
  2. Getting five shards of the same colour for the meter above the game

During the Free Spins you should try to spin five diamonds of the same colour (diamonds represent different progressive jackpots), and just as shards, they fill up above the reels. If you manage to reach five of the same colour you win the amount seen below the gems. With pink diamonds you win the biggest jackpot!
