A massive £30K given out to 4 deserving charities thanks to casino games provider, Microgaming!

It’s easy for us to think that most casino game providers are all take, take, take, but we rarely stop to think about what they do with all of the money they make, and if it is just about bleeding us dry! Doesn’t this just tug on your heartstrings a little? It sure does for us because despite the daily news articles and media about this world going to hell, we stumble across news such as this where giving back, and gestures of kindness is easy to see, especially when it’s in the online casino hemisphere.

The Gift of Giving program

Microgaming’s PlayItForward initiative is a community-driven initiative which main focus is on the social pillars of health and education. It has been active since 2014 and since then has sponsored, raised money, and also helped many gifted students attend the university of their dreams. Microgaming have named it the Gift of Giving program, and basically how it works is that Microgaming’s customers are able to vote for which charities they feel deserve a boost in their region.

The vote took place in December of 2017 and £30,000 was equally split between the regions: UK and Europe, Isle of Man, Africa and the Rest of the World. This year the charities in which received the most votes were:

• The Women’s Refuge based in the Isle of Man
• The Teenage Cancer Trust for the UK and Europe
• Save the Rhino International in Africa
• The Médecins Sans Frontières in the Rest of the World

The charities that got £30,000 each

Each of these extremely worthy charities deserve all the help they can get, and it must be an incredible feeling for Microgaming knowing that they made this happen. The online casino world can seem like such a waste when you see that all of these charities are in need of help, but that’s why it’s so fantastic that some of these casino games providers are giving back into the world. The Women’s Refuge charity is a charity providing safe accomodation for women and their children who unfortunately face domestic abuse on the Isle of Man.

There are no paid employees, they run on complete volunteers and unpaid committee members

The Teenage Cancer Trust works with cancer patients from the age of 13-24, ensuring that they are not alone in their fight with this awful disease. Not only are the patients helped, but also their families help to cope with the many ways in which cancer can affect a family union.
The Save the Rhino International Charity has been a very popular vote and has received the donation for three years running which is fantastic. This charity aims to save the five species of rhino and allow them to thrive in the wild for generations to come. Their partner Save the Rhino International also supports endangered rhinos in Asia, along with Africa, and over the last three years Microgaming has so kindly donated a total of £25,500 to this charity.

And lastly, the Médecins Sans Frontières or Doctors Without Borders charity was founded in Paris, France, and their purpose is to provide medical assistance and help to those who have sadly suffered and been affected by natural disasters, healthcare exclusion, epidemics and armed conflict. It must be so immensely difficult to vote for one single charity knowing that so many of them deserve all of the help they can get, but the voting part of it proves to be extremely helpful in this.
