Betsson to close down several of its UK casino sites

Betsson Group earlier today announced via a press release that they have forfeited three of their four UK gambling licenses. Betsson and Betsafe, among other brands, will not accept any more deposits and all outstanding bets will be paid out as wins. All deposited funds will be returned according to the statement which accompanied the news.

In their statement it was also communicated that amounting pressures to stay compliant with stricter marketing rules was one of the reasons behind the decision to pull out of the UK market. One of the licenses they forfeited was under review by the Gambling Commission.

This does not mean that Betsson will lose all presence in the UK. Earlier this year they acquired Gaming Innovation Group's customer facing business and Rizk Casino will continue its operations. The fate of Guts and Kaboo, which shares the same license as Rizk, is as of today unclear. They are still accessible and fingers-crossed they will remain so.
