Per Eriksson is no longer the CEO of NetEnt as they increase focus on long-term growth in the casino world

NetEnt released some rather astonishing news on the 25th of March 2018, to be honest we were all pretty stunned when reading this and thought it was something that would never happen! And no, it is not a brand new game being released on another top rated casino since that wouldn’t be shocking to us! The long-term CEO Per Eriksson has been booted out of the hot seat and has officially left the company.

Per Eriksson has been the face of NetEnt for many years whenever there has been a new and impressive game release, or an exciting piece of news, we would always look forward to the comments from Per at the end of the statement. Although this is indeed quite a shocking and definitely unexpected piece of news, we know that NetEnt are always striving for the best in everything they do.

There’s no doubt in our minds that this was for a very good reason!

Hillman takes over as acting CEO

The main reason in why the NetEnt board decided that this was the right decision was in order to increase focus on long-term growth for the company. There is not a whole lot of information on this case as you can imagine it’s pretty delicate, however from what we can gather it seems as though the board thought that Per was not taking the company in the right direction. If you are thinking about sending in your CV for the position, then don’t bother because it has already been filled by Therese Hillman who has been appointed the new acting CEO for NetEnt. Therese Hillman has been the CFO for NetEnt for many years, and she will be keeping this role, along with making sure CEO duties are met.

The chairman of the NetEnt board, Vigo Carlund did in fact say a few words about this change:

“NetEnt has developed well over many years and several parts of the business are still developing well, for example in regulated markets, but the overall performance of the group has not been as it should. The board believed that NetEnt needs a new driving force to reverse the trend and increase the focus on growth. The value creation potential in NetEnt remains significant. The online gaming market has structural growth driven by the migration from offline to online gaming. The company has a solid balance sheet and a strong brand name in its segment of the market. The board would also like to extend its gratitude to per Eriksson for his time as CEO for NetEnt.”

We trust and love NetEnt as a company, they have some of the best video slots out there in the gaming world, and they are featured on many of the best casino sites throughout the UK so that is definitely saying something.
