Genesis to fight back after UK license temporarily suspended

Online casino operator Genesis Global has pledged to mount a vigorous appeal after the UK Gambling Commission suspended its licence on an interim basis.

The UKGC ruling sent shockwaves through the industry, and it means that UK players cannot access popular Genesis sites like Vegas Hero, Casino Cruise, Kassu and Genesis Casino.

The watchdog is investigating two suspected breaches of the firm’s licence, relating to sections 116(2)(a) and 116(2)(c)(i)) of the Gambling Act. Genesis cannot offer its suite of top casino sites to UK customers while the investigation is ongoing.

It has now taken independent legal advice and promised to “vigorously appeal” the “disproportionate” measures taken by the UKGC.

“Genesis has expressed its extreme level of disappointed with this determination and outcome and is therefore firmly committed to complying with the Commission’s extensive range of regulations,” said the firm in a statement.

“This means Genesis will continue with its own existing compliance systems, policies and procedures, whilst also continuously improving upon them. This will ensure a responsible and safe gaming environment for all players, where Genesis is confident that this will be clearly reflected during the review process.”

Genesis added that the UKGC’s decision is “inconsistent with the Commission’s previous regulatory enforcement action in regard to other operators”, and promised use all available channels to mount an appeal.
