Planet of the Apes slot game created by NetEnt gives us those ‘feels’ of being in the actual movie. When you enter this video slot it’s clear to see that there had been a lot of thought and detail placed into it, the soundtrack and music feel intense and exciting just like the movie was. The symbols consist of many of the various different characters featured in the Planet of the Apes movie and they are transferred onto the slot. The symbols consist of numbers, a Rise Bonus symbol, Ape symbols, Caesar, and even a Bonus symbol. There is so much going on in this game and it’s definitely one where you will find it difficult to get bored considering the amount of bonus features implemented.
This game is rather different from the normal layout, NetEnt decided to really give this game some ‘oomph’ because they have 2 game play areas, where each of them have a different amount of paylines. The Rise play area has paylines 1-20, and the Dawn play area has paylines 21-40. It does have the standard 5 reels though. It may seem a little bit daunting with all of these paylines but needless to worry because it will all be explained. Make sure that you adjust your betting limit before monkeying around, the minimum bet that you can place is £0.20, and the maximum is £200, so make sure you choose wisely, and spin away!
When 3 or more Scatter symbols appear anywhere on the reels during the main game, it will award you with a win. There are actually two different Scatter symbols on the Rise and Dawn play areas, and they are treated as two different symbols hence counted separately.
When 3 or more Scatter symbols appear in both of the play areas, this will trigger the Multiple Free Spins feature. You will then get to play one after the other starting with the Rise Free Spins.
If you get 3 or more Scatters appearing on the reels during the Rise play area, this will in turn trigger the Rise Free Spins. When this is triggered, you will be awarded with 10 Free Spins and during this feature the number of Wild symbols landing on the reels will fill up the Wild meter x1. During the last spin, all collected Wild symbols will be randomly placed onto the play area and when this is finished the win will be evaluated. If there are any Wild symbols landing on the screen during the last Rise Free Spin, it will not be added to the meter, and on the last spin, all of the collected Wild symbols will be randomly placed on the play area.
If you happen to land on the Rise Bonus symbol on the first reel which is a symbol with big letters stating ‘Rise Bonus’, it will trigger the exciting Rise Bonus feature. This is an additional coin win which is awarded for every human and ape symbol which is displayed on the game screen excluding the Scatter symbol. The coin win for the Rise Bonus feature is paid in addition to any bet line wins on the reels when the feature is activated.
The Dawn Free Spins feature will be triggered when you have 3 or more Scatter symbols appearing anywhere on the reels, but only in the Dawn game-play area. If you do manage to trigger this feature you will receive 15 Free Spins, and these spins will be handy in order to collect the 3 different symbols which in turn activate a corresponding meter. You can either active the Multiplier Meter, the Extra Wild meter, or the Extra Free Spins meter.
Once these symbols land, it will fill up the specific meter by 1, and once it is completely full, another feature will be activated where you will require 3 symbols to fill up the meters.
The Exta Free Spins meter will award 3 extra Free Spins each time it has been filled, and you will start the Dawn Free Spins feature with 1x multiplier which will increase by x1 everytime it gets filled until it eventually reaches the x5 multiplier.
Once this has been reached, the Extra Wild meter will turn one of the character symbols into an Extra Wild symbol where it will be filled for the remainder of the Dawn Free Spins feature.
The Dawn Bonus feature will be triggered if the Dawn Bonus symbol lands on the last reel of the game grid. During this feature, the ape and human symbols will transform into the same symbol and will only appear in the Dawn play area. If there happens to be one or more valid winning combinations already, the selected symbol will be the highest value symbol from the combination.
The Planet of the Apes stacked wild feature can be triggered on the Rise play area when a reel is fully covered by Wilds. These Stacked Wilds then become duplicated onto the Dawn play area in the corresponding position.
Sometimes the Dual Feature is triggered before each spin, and if it does get triggered this means that one symbol gets chosen for each play area with the same symbol not able to be chosen for both play areas along with Wild and Scatter symbols being unable to be chosen. During this feature the Planet of the Apes reels will only contain these two selected symbols and the other reels are just blank spaces, if a symbol ends up landing on it’s corresponding area when the reels have stopped, it will stick. However if a symbol lands in the other play area it will move over to the correct spot and if there is at least one new symbol appearing in its corresponding area the game will re-spin.
