Super Sumo! This is a video slot created by one of our favourite slot game providers, Microgaming. Who knew that even the most tough and strong looking sumos could have feelings? This slot game as you may have already guessed by the name, is based on the Japanese traditional sport of sumo wrestling.

Sumo wrestling is an extremely competitive sport and it definitely looks extremely intimidating for those of us that do not take part in such sports. Super Sumo gives us a glimpse into this world, with it’s beautifully orchestrated background which has a Japanese theme as you can see the bonsai trees, pagodas, temples and very serene surroundings.

This slot game features an array of symbols that are in the form of different emotions of sumo wrestlers, along with the classic letters that you usually see within slots, however in this game they have been given a Japanese essence with the font of letters and numbers as you will see.

The music and sound effects are very enjoyable and they fit perfectly well with the theme!

Super Sumo features 5 reels, and 25 paylines. The minimum bet you can make is £0.25, and the maximum is £25. This is not really for the high rollers, but it is a pretty exciting game nonetheless.

Before you start spinning and aggravating the Sumo wrestlers, you should of course adjust your bet and decide how much you wish to spin with. Since this casino slot is based on the world of Sumo wrestling, I guess Microgaming only felt it right to create the symbols in the form of Sumos. They have an angry sumo, a sad sumo, a fearful sumo, and a disgusted sumo. I think it’s quite a good idea to have done this.

There are letters and number symbols too which have a Japanese style font, and there is also a Wild Symbol which is also in the form of a Sumo wrestler, along with a Super Sumo Symbol. To be honest, during the actual features these symbols may come across as a little bit scary, or at least that is what I found them to be. Especially when they animate, perhaps you will feel the same, or maybe it’s just me.

There is a Free Spins feature in Super Sumo slot game, however it is rather hard to trigger. It can be triggered by the Super Sumo symbol that I mentioned above. You need to win with 3 of these symbols either on reel 1, reel 3 and reel 5 only.

If you do happen to trigger this feature, then you will win 10 Free Spins. Unfortunately you cannot win any more Free Spins during this feature, you just need to be lucky enough to trigger it again.

Expanding wilds

During the Super Sumo scatter symbol, not only will this feature give you 10 Free Spins, but it will also give you an Expanding Wild, which is actually pretty funny to watch.

If you happen to win with 2 Wild symbols, then you will trigger the Re-Spin feature. This feature will continue until there are no more new Wilds appearing on the grid. This symbol is also a substitute for all symbols except the Super Sumo symbol, it is the most exciting symbol in our opinion because if you manage to win with 5 of them, it will reward you with 500 coins.

This Microgaming slot did not impress us that much. Indeed the graphics are very well created, and the music and sound effects are also good, however we do not think that the features were quite there.

It seems like it’s a slot game that has a lot of potential, however I think that it could have been boosted a bit by having some extra features. Other than that is isn’t a terrible game, I think it could have just had some improvements in the feature department.
